When was the last time you walked and browsed the shelves of our collection? Over the past two years hundreds of titles have been added to the fiction and nonfiction sections of our print books. For example, as a preparation for 10th grade Independent Reading by students in the Metal Fabrication Shop 50 titles were added covering many topics and aspects of the Industry. These titles were picked based on ongoing conversations with the instructor’s feedback on the types of topics students are, and will be doing in their careers.

There are multiple factors I take into consideration prior to adding or weeding print media from our collection. In the selection found in the section above you will find a cross selection of fiction and nonfiction titles that will provide a rich assortment of information regarding the specific trade. These specific titles were purposely picked for independent reading by Metal Fabrication students and are meant to help them broaden their outlook at the end of Sophomore year at which time they begin the process of choosing a topic to focus on for their Senior Project research. Any patron may suggest titles to be added to our collection. Both students and staff have provided suggestion that in turn enrich us all.
